Rapé (a dried tobacco and tree ashes powder) is a sacred medicine used thousands of years ago by different indigenous tribes in the Amazon rainforest like the Yawanawá people. It is known for clearing the mind, grounding, and connecting to your energy system and chakras. Rapé medicine invites you into a deep state of meditation which can liberate many emotions and parts of our unconscious mind.
Yawanawá people mainly use Tsunu rapé. This kind is made with the ashes from the Tsunu bark. The Tsunu is a long and majestic tree and is considered one of the most sacred of the Yawanawá people.
The name “Yawanawá” translates as ‘the People of the Wild Boar’. They are an indigenous community of less than 1,500 people who live in nine villages along the Gregório River, in the state of Acre, deep in the Brazilian Amazon. According to the leader Nixiwaka Yawanawá, they call themselves ‘The Boar People’, “because as a people, we are always together, when we hunt and in life in general. We are a pack.”
