Contributing to the Ayahuasca world – What can you do?

by Ecaterina Mihalcea

There are countless of us moved by our encounters with Ayahuasca. Something far beyond superficial is being revealed, and we can’t help but ask ourselves – How can we contribute to the expansion and growth of the Ayahuasca community? How can we team up with her and others that support her?

As one launches the desire, countless paths appear.

We would love to share our experiences and urge you to listen to that burning desire to contribute and find your path to it.

Find out what makes you happy and choose it

If we are to think of her as a great mother, what else would a mother need than seeing her kids happy and in pursuit of it?

The pursuit of happiness has been on people’s minds for quite some time. Many seek the perfect recipe, but find there are too many personal variables. Our uniqueness plays such a big role in this journey.

Committing to finding what makes one happy and choosing it too, speaks of committing to a journey of continuous self-discovery and the constant choice of elements to adjust your life to whatever it is you discover next.

Tell your stories. No matter how they sound like

Some of us experience a mix of gorgeousness and terror and are reluctant to share about the latter. You might think, “I love Ayahuasca; the last thing I wish is for people to be afraid of meeting her. But hear this – the story, entirely, is part of your process of integration and personal growth, so let it all out – the way it feels best to you.

If you choose to write about it, platforms such as Medium allow everyone to blog for free, and it can reach a big pool of people. Quora is a platform where people ask questions online, and plenty request the sharing of Ayahuasca experiences. It doesn’t matter whether you choose to share your story with your loved ones, friends, or strangers; what matters is doing it.

Permit yourself to go slow

Please don’t feel like only by joining retreats you can support her. That’s a misconception we at Avalon are committed to clarifying.

There is no degree of separation between the wellbeing of Ayahuasca’s world and your own.

We strongly recommend you go slow, walk to what you feel you can face in every moment, and return when ready.

Find your rhythm.

Volunteer

Retreats such as ours frequently open the door to those willing to support others on their journey. Kitchen duties and space cleaning are openings for which anyone can volunteer. Schedules always offer enough space for the volunteers to connect with the medicine and those on the journey. The Ayahuasca community holds a special place in the circle for those whose medicine is music and healing arts. By volunteering as a space holder in the actual Ayahuasca ceremony, one can experience significant shifts. Medicine people will better understand their power; when and how to show up, and healthy boundaries for both them and their clients.

Support others through their process of pre and post-integration

Working with Ayahuasca isn’t something that ends with a retreat. The retreat is the middle point in one’s journey to oneself. The actual process of integration starts long before meeting Ayahuasca. Although it is impossible to identify the time of seeding the path to her, supporting one’s preparation to meet her and the experience post-integration is key.

Pre-integration is about diet, habits, meditation, and heart-opening activities to prepare yourself for the experience of ayahuasca

Post-integration is all about keeping the heart open for as long as possible, learning what leads to its wavering, and supporting a life where self-care and self-love are as essential as breathing.

If you’re passionate about things like mindful diet, workouts, meditation, alternative medicines, and therapies – share it with those on the path.

Share your medicine and contribute directly to the expansion of the Ayahuasca world.

Keep her close through your daily life

Ask yourself, “What would Ayahuasca do or say in any given situation?”, “How would she react to this?”, “What would be the lens she would choose to see us through?”. Ask yourself – “Can I access it and thus become one with her walk in the world?”.

Create your life from the newfound spaces and with an open heart

Most of us arrive at her wishing for a higher love.

And oh, she delivers every single time!

To all who have touched base in the depth of Ayahuasca’s heart – that’s where we should be planting and growing our gardens now! Seed your crops, aka <dreams and desires>, wherever you feel space, ease, respect, and allowance. The Ayahuasca community needs more of that.

Let her be

Don’t turn her into another religious savior, and open your mind up every time your thoughts get close to having her figured out. She’ll appreciate the gesture. And while you’re at it, set yourself free in the same manner. The Ayahuasca world is all about movement, possibility, and growth.

Contributing to the Ayahuasca world - What can you do?

Support the tribes and those you feel are close to serving her essence

Countless NGOs are supporting Ayahuasca South American communities, as well as scientific studies regarding the benefits of Ayahuasca. Take your pick. You could invest in art, tapestry, magazine subscriptions, music productions, documentaries, studies, etc.

Treasure innocence in you and others

One of Ayahuasca’s main teachings is nurturing and caring for our inner children and creating a safe environment for those about to come.

Protect children and be the softest version of you around them. Whether you are a parent or live in a community with little ones, remember to give them space to be and create.

Contribute to the thriving of your community

Ayahuasca ceremonies are an invitation to realize the power of a circle, of community. Together, we are stronger; co-creation is much more fun.

Reframe the way you see the space you live in. See it all, a beautiful garden. Support and distribute your resources to cover it all, the same way a water sprinkler reaches all parts of the garden.

Take your newfound consciousness to work

Conscious leadership and fellowship are needed today, tomorrow, and in the years to come. The Ayahuasca world extends to your office and does not require you to drop your career to support it.

Wherever you are, bring your newfound awareness and lead the way to a healthy environment, joint ventures, and fun!

What is your take on the Ayahuasca world?

We are keen to hear all about your ways of living, understanding, and contributing.

Truly, we hope this article raised some awareness and curiosity on your side and served as an invitation to stand up and contribute to the world you seek to live in.

Experience

I write from lived experience. I have sat in ceremony myself and draw on my own integration journey rather than clinical theory. An engineer by training with a master's in quality management, I bring a structured, careful eye to a subject that is often written about loosely.

Role at Avalon

Writer in residence since the beginning. I research and tell the stories behind Avalon's work, translating first-hand accounts and practitioner knowledge into clear, honest writing for people exploring this path.
