Rapé & Cacao Ceremony w/ Paula López & Marta Salcedo
Rapé, a dried tobacco and tree ashes powder, is a sacred medicine used for thousands of years by different indigenous tribes in the Amazon rainforest, like the Yawanawá and Huni Kuin people. It is known for clearing the mind, grounding and connecting to your energy system and chakras. Rapé medicine invites you into a deep state of meditation, which can liberate many emotions and parts of our unconscious mind.
Cacao is known as the food of the gods. This medicine comes from the land of the Mayans, Guatemala, and has high levels of antioxidants, magnesium, and anandamide (the bliss molecule). The spirit of cacao brings a subtle opening of the heart and activation of the chakra system; it is a beautiful aid to meditation, dance, writing, singing, sound healing, and other creative experiences.
Two medicines by two medicine women.
Since 2015, Paula López has devoted herself wholeheartedly to learning from different ancestral traditions. She had the pleasure and honour of sharing medicine and organising retreats and ceremonies for the Yawanawá, Shipibo, Lakota, Huni Kuin, Cofán, and Wixarika. She met their grandparents, sat in their ceremonies with master plants, and put herself at their service.
In 2020, Marta Salcedo started travelling the world solo, from South Africa to Mesoamerica through the desert of Namibia and the jungle of the Amazon, learning from many different cultures and ancient traditions. During her three months living in Guatemala, she studied spiritual practices under the guidance of the T’zutujil community. She fell in love with the medicine of cacao and started exploring plant medicines.
These two women will be accompanied by three excellent musicians: Morris Gabo and TAMA (Laura Colibrí & Harold Gómez – Colombian formation of medicine music). Drums, guitars, hand pan, bowls, rattles, wayra, harmonica, and singing.
