Rapé Ceremony w/ Waxy & Wasaru Yawanawá in Barcelona
The name Yawanawá translates as ‘the People of the Wild Boar’. They are an indigenous community of 1,200 people who live in nine villages along the Gregório River, in the state of Acre, deep in the Brazilian Amazon. According to the leader Nixiwaka Yawanawá, they call themselves ‘The Boar People’, “because as a people we are always together, when we hunt and in life in general. We are a pack.”
Waxy Yawanawá & Wasaru Keneya Yawanawá will introduce us to the Yawanawá people of the Brazilian Amazon rainforest and their most important traditional rituals with sacred medicines: “uni” (Ayahuasca), “rume” (rapé) as well as their well-known plant diets.
Rapé (a dried tobacco and tree ashes powder) is a sacred medicine used from thousands of years ago by different indigenous tribes in the Amazon rainforest like the Yawanawá people. It is known for clearing the mind, grounding and connecting to your energy system and chakras.
The ceremony will be guided by Waxy Yawanawá & Wasaru Keneya Yawanawá. Waxy prepares the Yawanawá Força Feminina rapé with the ashes from the Tsunu bark. The Tsunu is a long and majestic tree, being considered one of the most sacred of the Yawanawá people. It is a very special rapé since it is a medicine that represents a female conquest of Yawanawá women within their spirituality.
